    Description

    Offered for your consideration is a rare vintage brass Winchester store sign or plaque. This is an original piece and NOT a reproduction. The sign reads: "We recommend and sell Winchester cartridges and guns". This original is fairly easy to distinguish from the reproductions. The reverse side bears the "WAC 1913" marking, which was almost always ground off before re-casting. The detail is also a lot crisper on the originals and the reproductions have thicker corner borders on the inside.
    The sign has been well cared for over the years and shows no signs of abuse or rough treatment. It does not appear to have been buffed or polished and remains original. A bit of minor verdigris can be seen in the protected areas and screw holes as shown.
    This s a great-looking sign all the way around. It appears to have been sand cast with all details remaining bold and strong. The sign is free of any bending, marring, or damage and the surfaces are free of any stains or discoloration. The corners and edges remain crisp with no significant denting or marring.
    The signs measures 6-7/8" in length and it's 3" wide.
    A very nice, original example of this classic Winchester merchant sign!
